Ritornello

By Anonymous

And she fought a pink hue because she knew what it would do

As if thought ought to win against what never loses

Reflexive hushing

Cannot dam the next time rushing

And she blushed a pink so faint that it must have been true

As if a secret was concealing itself from you

Something blooming

A crushing renewing

And she turned a pink so bright it was burning

As if eating away at her with yearning

Inevitable doom being

All consuming

It is hard to be young without learning

And she flushed a pink so dark it was maroon

As if it hurt to feel

So suddenly so soon

Squeezing periodically

A human’s duty amusing cruelty

She tinges with a pinkish tint

It all grows from within slowly

Glowing softly

Beauty
