I conducted a survey to find the United Kingdom’s most huggable trees. Here are the results (on a scale of 1-5).
10. Silver birch (1.94) - “might asw just hug urself at that point” (- Turnock)
9. Blackthorn (1.95) - to be honest it’s more of a shrub than a tree but it’s very pretty.
8. Pinus sylvestris (2.29) - fair enough.
7. European beech (2.55) - ???
6. MINECRAFT TREE (3.14) - “i’m a minecraft tree hugger / and not ashamed / I will speak my truth” (- Anonymous)
5. Wych elm (3.36) - this was the most controversial one, actually.
4. Field maple (3.60) - “perfect girth, would never leave that embrace” (- Royal Holloway Student)
3. English oak (3.60) - the patriots loved this one.
2. Sycamore (3.63) - “I would like to hug the Sycamore in sympathy” (- Nield)
1. Chestnut (3.83) - you know what, this was the only correct answer.
